Gratitude Journaling

After keeping a daily gratitude journal for one week, one very common theme was that I consistently writing about was my body and how grateful I am that it treats me well.

My legs for allowing me to stand up out of my bed in the morning, walk me through the day, lift heavy weights, jump rope, and run.

My hands for being able to type my assignments, put on my makeup, serve people juices, wave, and make meals.

My mind for being capable of storing memories, thinking about my future, and processing situations.

My arms for hugging my friends, doing pushups, and carrying groceries.

My eyes to experience the beauty of Santa Barbara, read, and people watch.

My nose to smell my perfume that makes me oh so happy, my toast in the morning, and the flowers on my desk.

My ears to hear my roommate’s funny conversations, the birds chirping during my zoom call, and the car the honked at me to go.

These are just a few examples that came up in my journaling. It is so important to recognize the little things that we can easily take for granted daily. I encourage you to try this exercise as well. Even if is just a few words of gratitude. It only takes a few minutes, commitment, and the right attitude..
