Corporate Prayer

Praying corporately has been a new experience for me. I did not know what to expect from a zoom prayer with 18 students. Also, praying out loud to a screen was definitely a little out of my comfort zone. I have noticed that it has been very helpful and guiding when the leader sends out a google document of the itinerary. The silence it sometimes awkward, but there is also a peace associated with it because I know everyone has something on their mind that they are just not saying aloud. We have prayed for churches, homeless shelters, non-profit organizations, those affected by COVID-19, each other, and much more. It is a refreshing thirty minutes out of the day to just see each other and pray for what is on our heart.

As I am writing this, my turn to lead prayer is in two days. I just had my meeting with Alexandra Lillenberg to help guide me and prepare for it. I told Alex that I really did not know how to lead it. I have had no experience in leading a prayer like this and I feel like all the approaches I would have taken have already been chosen by other students. She gave me some ideas and guidance, so hopefully with proper preparation and prayer I will provide great leadership for thirty minutes.

This experience has inspired me to continue this practice in the future when I own my own business. Thirty minutes a week to recalibrate and focus on what matters is so important and refreshing. A break from the daily grind and a time to just be with one another and talking to God.
